BLACK BEAR HUNTING AND FISHING
Black bear hunting

The hunting season for Black bear and small game generally begins about the 25th of August.
Past years, the average rate of success for black bear were from 8% to 12%, in comparaison with the number of black bear license sold. However, the animals wich are taken are generally very large.
There is no additional cost to hunt the black bear, the ptarmigan or to fish, and the only pre-requisite is to purchase the necessary permits which can be obtained in Schefferville.
Of course, the Club Chambeaux cannot guarantee any type of success rate for these species, as these are considered as a BONUS for our clients.
Small game
There are some Ptarmigans and Spruce grouses in most areas. The small game hunting season open on August 25th.
Spectacular scenes

We also recommend that you bring along a camera or a video camera.
The vastness and beauty of these northern regions is a treat for the eyes, and can simply take your breath away.
Spectacular Northern lights, restlessing wolves song, numerous variety of tundra colors, all in a real wilderness environment.
Fishing

While hunting caribou, you will be surrounded by a varied and abundant natural environment.
Having travelled so far up north, why not bring along a fishing rod and some spoons or lures in your back pack, so as to enjoy a bit of fishing after having taken your two caribou.
At least, this is what many hunters have suggested.
At the end of a day, what could be better than to serve up some freshly caught trout, to be enjoyed in the great outdoors ?
Obviously, our camps are strategically located because of their quality of caribou hunting and not because of the fishing potential. Nevertheless, all of our camps are situated at the water's edge where, depending on the site, different species of fish such as the Lake Trout (Touladi), Speckled Trout, great Northern Pike, Ouananiche and sometimes, Arctic Char can be found.
With a little bit of luck, and if the conditions are just right, you may even have the opportunity to take a very large specimen.
The fishing season end's on or about September 30th for all species. But catch and release only after September 7th.
